Breathing is connected to all the functions in the body, f.ex. digestion, heartbeat, energy production, metabolism, sleep, and aging, making easy and varied breathing so important.

There are many recipes for how to breath but breathing needs to fit different circumstances.

Ribs must be flexible and the diaphragmatic movement clear for the lungs and heart to move properly. There is even a connection from the central diaphragm to the pelvic floor and with that into your legs. Breathing is connected to all the functions in the body, f.ex. digestion, heartbeat, energy production, metabolism, sleep, and aging, making easy and varied breathing so important.

Originally a dancer, she is a highly experienced movement and body mechanics teacher. She knows how to access the clients inherent intelligence of the brain and body and to help them change habits that are hindering or damaging.

Eva has been teaching movement internationally for 40 years. She is trained as a professional contemporary dancer and a certified Feldenkrais Practitioner® (San Rafael '83 graduation) and a certified Qigong teacher of Basic Universal Tao in 2000. She has taught extensively Contact Improvisation, Dance and WaveContinuum, which she developed out of Continuum Movement.

She draws knowledge from other techniques she has been studying intensively: Body-Mind Centering, Continuum Movement, E F T, The Work, IO Healing and Hula, among others.

The Feldenkrais® Method - Awareness through Movement®

is designed to enable the full range of thought, action and expression of each individual,

The basis of true mental and physical flexibility is to switch from vigorous action to stillness spontaneously. This enables you to be alive and functional at a high level in response to the ever-changing demands of life. In the Feldenkrais® Method, you exercise that flexibility in smart movement sequences that are pleasant to do. These sequences engage your mind and body. You also learn to execute powerful movements with great accuracy and sensibility and tiny movements with clarity and exquisite delicacy. (Big Movements need the accuracy of tiny movements to be truly powerful).

Past workshops!

Aloha kakou!

Here are my upcoming workshops for the rest of this month. Please forward to anybody that you know could benefit from this work. Unwanted curves in the spine are a cause for many pains including sciatica or neck pain. These workshops also strengthen lungs and heart, which is very important in these days.

I want to announce that my colleague Katharine Harts and me are teaching our first very special workshop together on Nov 1. She is a wonderful teacher and we are excited to put both of our wisdom and experience together to lead participants deep into gratitude. All workshops are online and life interacting!

2. Anti-Scoliosis and Healthy Lung Weekend Day 2:

3Melting Our Hearts into Gratitude

How can we find gratitude in these times of chaos, uncertainty, and loss? How can we cultivate a supple and grateful heart as we move in this season of gratitude? You are invited to this “All Saints Day” workshop to explore the places within that are not grateful and express them into a heart capable of not only holding gratitude but also joy and abundance.

Together we will embody and spread gratitude to our own self and to a world that is aching for it. Through the ancient arts of movement, sounding, drawing, and connecting with each other we celebrate our resilient hearts to reside in peace and gratitude.

Katharine Harts and Eva Geueke are both master teachers who have decades of training and experience in helping people around the world to transform their lives.

They are both committed to sacred embodiment and have chosen the path of transformation through mindful movement, somatic awareness, expressive arts, and ritual.

Their collaboration at this chaotic time in history is a powerful force for grounding and healing.

They invite you to begin with gratitude.

 Qigong and Feldenkrais

Important for a healthy respiratory system – Enhance your lung health as you straighten your spine. Eva will be offering feedback to individuals during this interactive workshop.

Through the easy and gentle movements prescribed in the Feldenkrais Method©, we learn to recognize and eliminate many of the common habits that interfere with deep breathing and good spinal organization. This workshop will focus on the diaphragm and lungs, neck, 7th cervical vertebrae, and how to lengthen rounded backs or scoliosis from the inside out.

We know that the diaphragm works, day in and day out, to move our lungs. Did you know the diaphragm also has an intimate relationship with the heart and the neck? The 7the cervical – with many nerves going down the arms and the spine – is the key vertebrae in this connection. Dr. Feldenkrais once said: “We would not have neck problems if our lungs could glide freely.”

The diaphragm is a large muscle in the center of our body that is poorly understood and neglected. When it does not move well, the diaphragm not only hampers oxygen intake but also pulls on our chest and neck.

Through mindful movement we will help the 7th cervical vertebrae to communicate with the diaphragm and lungs, freeing up the neck!

You’ll take 2 lessons with a water break in between. We plan to record the lesson and make it available to workshop attendees for a small fee.

Anti-Scoliosis and Healthy Lung Weekend Day 2:

Spacious Chest, Heart & Spine with Feldenkrais / Wave Continuum- LIVE ONLINE, Interactive

The chest houses our vital organs, so it needs freedom and mobility for the health of our diaphragm, lungs and heart. In this workshop, your diaphragm and the musculature between the ribs will learn to work together: your ribcage frees up, your spine elongates and your lungs glide. Good breathing improves everything, as our oxygen is our primary source of energy, our lifeline – even before water and food.

Get to know your biggest muscle, the diaphragm – your ‘motor’ in the center of your body – so well that you can move it with ease. This action also moves the heart, which is sitting right on top of the diaphragm and between the lungs. With extra movement and space, the heart can do its work properly. Surprisingly, moving the diaphragm and the ribcage well can also undo neck tension and immobility, as well as tightness between the shoulder blades!

To this Feldenkrais©/SmartMoves workshop Eva adds another modality, WaveContinuum, to recondition the shoulder girdle and arms, as well as enhancing chest-heart-lung mobility and health. WaveContinuum is a powerful somatic method that uses specific sound and breath techniques with a mindful wave motion to open and move tissues and fluids.

The Feldenkrais Method© and WaveContinuum form a smart union to dive deep into a conscious body journey that leaves you more elongated, mobile and oxygenated.

Effective, flexible breathing provides hundreds of benefits, including mental health benefits!

You’ll take a water break in between sections. We plan to record the lesson and make it available to workshop attendees for a small fee.

Elegantly walking for health

10 -11.30

6/12 Functional feet, ankles and hip joints   $15

Feet are fabulous and if they are happy all the many joints have space to move. They are working harmoniously with the knees and hip joints.  We learn in this class to clarify the relationship so we keep the joints strong and resilient.

10-11.30

6/26 Functional neck and carriage of the head $15

if the head is aligned well, our sense organs can function better and lead our spine and decisions in the best way possible.

9:30-11:30am (2 hrs) $25

7/10 3-D functional pelvis- the pelvis has 2 sides consistent of many bones. There are beautiful relationships to be explored between the hip joints, sacrum, pubic bone and the femur, between the psoas, stomach and back muscles as well as the glutes. Let's add the pelvic floor to our exploration and have the pelvic be the powerhouse that gives us grounding, health, life, potency and pleasure.

9:30-11.45  (2,25 hrs) $27

7/17 A healthy functional  walk is an elegant walk

Here we explore how walking consists of an intriguing spiral pattern and a lot of circular action within it.

As humans we carry our center of gravity much higher than any animal. That gives us a lot of advantages, when we know how to use and stabilize it dynamically.

Learn to walk with ease, realign your posture and increase your overall health. Good posture comes not from muscular effort but from the optimal use of the skeleton. Good posture makes you look and feel healthy, poised and potent. The Maasai tribe in Africa is known for its elegant, long, erect posture. They can walk for many miles without tiring, keeping their ease and bounce. The beauty of their posture is its ease, without taking their shoulders back or tucking their tummies in. Their uprightness comes from a clear inner skeletal alignment where muscles are free to move without holding unnecessary tension. We will learn this practice with the Feldenkrais®/Smart Moves techniques.

Posture often is misunderstood and is artificially forced and unbalanced. People do the best they know how,  but have often a wrong notion. The resulting poor posture can adversely affect eyesight, thinking, mood, bones, joints and ligaments and the optimal functioning of organs. A healthy, functioning spine promotes whole body wellness, with accompanying benefits to our emotional wellbeing and our ability to think clearly.

This workshop is appropriate for all ages. The Feldenkrais movements will be done lying down, sitting and walking, always adapted to individual abilities. Fit people without injuries will learn to be more efficient, while others will learn to enhance their health and overcome their injuries, as Dr Feldenkrais did himself.
