Breath With Ease

A 3 day Feldenkrais/SmartMoves workshop

Breath With Ease

3 days March 25 - 27

#ease of breath# heart health#free neck#long spine#good digestion#back pain gone#good metabolism# lung health

A Feldenkrais/SmartMoves workshop on how to breathe more efficiently, undo scoliosis

and feel more ‘spring’ in your life.

Breathing is connected to all the functions in the body, f.ex. Digestion, heartbeat, energy production,                     metabolism, sleep, and aging.

There are many theories of how to breathe correctly, but breathing must allow for variety as different circumstances and activities require different breathing patterns. In this three-day workshop,

you learn to breathe with flexibility to fit different actions.

Breath is our first nourishment. Without breath, there is no life. Without movement, there is no breath!  If our diaphragm and ribs do not move well, there is no good breathing. Ribs need to be flexible and the      diaphragmatic movement clear for the lungs to move properly. There is even a connection from the central diaphragm to the pelvic floor diaphragm.

Dr. Feldenkrais devised many lessons to make the thoracic spine and ribcage flexible and the diaphragm able to move properly in all directions. That will also help to lengthen unwanted curves in the spine.   Learning to move the diaphragm in different directions can straighten out the spine from the inside. In this workshop, Eva weaves Feldenkrais, WaveContinuum sounds, and Qigong wisdom to make this a unique workshop that leaves you breathing with ease and with a sense of strength combined with flexibility. This workshop will even free your spine and neck.

If you think this is not for you as you have back or neck pain, think again. The diaphragm is a central muscle in the middle of your body connected through ligaments to your lumbar spine, and its movement also pulls on your neck. Your upper back pain is gone if your lungs can move freely without sticking

Love heals

In the month of love, Eva Geueke emphasizes how to move in such a loving way that movement becomes medicine and can heal mend and open up. Moving slowly with care and without force, you learn to develop a nonviolent relationship with your nervous system, bones, muscles, and ligaments as if you say to yourself while you move ‘I love you!’ These workshops are also a great Valentine’s gift!

Loving your hips    1st day Hybrid

The pelvic area with the hip joints is our powerhouse of locomotion and our grounding and joy.

Learn how to lovingly take care of your pelvis, hip joints and knees to live more fully and act powerfully and on top prevent damage, reduce or reverse the damage already done. In fact, Dr. Feldenkrais created this method because he had a very injured and arthritic knee. He was not only able to get back to walking and Judo without surgery but created a worldwide renowned method. One of the titles of his books is ‘The Potent self’

These Feldenkrais® lessons will help you improve mobility. They will organize ligaments and muscles around the joints and distribute their workload correctly to have you walking or dancing with ease. To facilitate walking and running the pelvis has to be mobile and strong. The strongest muscles are attached to the pelvis. In this workshop, you learn how to use that power in a coordinated efficient movement and how to use your pelvic floor to be upright and relax your neck.

The pelvic floor is involved in many basic life functions as varied as digestion, elimination, reproduction, breathing, lovemaking. Improvement starts with awareness. The movement of the pelvic floor is subtle, and yet it is possible for all of us to feel its effect. If you want to improve the function of the pelvic floor, you have to learn how to contract and relax all of it, in a balanced and more equal manner. This is what makes your pelvic floor healthier and stronger, using all parts coordinated with your whole body.

The Feldenkrais Method® is a very advanced approach of Body-Mind Integration and Healing that uses re-patterning through developing awareness and exact knowledge of brain and body co-functioning during movement. It shares many of the same principles and techniques as Qigong. These movements are simple and gentle and can be repeated at home once you learn them.

Loving your feet      2nd day  2/19

Let’s love our feet! If you want to feel good then make your feet feel good! Happy feet give you pleasure.  What does love have to do with this? If you love something you give it special attention. The other way around is, if you give it special attention through loving movement and touch, it is like saying ‘I love you”.

In this workshop, you will learn easily repeatable movements that make your feet mobile and strong while working on good posture at the same time. Having painful or deformed feet and toes from wrong weight distribution and negligence can be literally a drag. Regaining flexible, spacious toes, feet and ankles are of vital importance for balance and posture. We can change our posture from the neck down or from the feet up.

Past workshops!

Aloha kakou!

Here are my upcoming workshops for the rest of this month. Please forward to anybody that you know could benefit from this work. Unwanted curves in the spine are a cause for many pains including sciatica or neck pain. These workshops also strengthen lungs and heart, which is very important in these days.

I want to announce that my colleague Katharine Harts and me are teaching our first very special workshop together on Nov 1. She is a wonderful teacher and we are excited to put both of our wisdom and experience together to lead participants deep into gratitude. All workshops are online and life interacting!

3Melting Our Hearts into Gratitude Sunday, Nov. 1st, 10:30-1:30 PM Hawaii time

How can we find gratitude in these times of chaos, uncertainty, and loss? How can we cultivate a supple and grateful heart as we move in this season of gratitude? You are invited to this “All Saints Day” workshop to explore the places within that are not grateful and express them into a heart capable of not only holding gratitude but also joy and abundance.

Together we will embody and spread gratitude to our own self and to a world that is aching for it. Through the ancient arts of movement, sounding, drawing, and connecting with each other we celebrate our resilient hearts to reside in peace and gratitude.

Katharine Harts and Eva Geueke are both master teachers who have decades of training and experience in helping people around the world to transform their lives.

They are both committed to sacred embodiment and have chosen the path of transformation through mindful movement, somatic awareness, expressive arts, and ritual.

Their collaboration at this chaotic time in history is a powerful force for grounding and healing.

They invite you to begin with gratitude.

Thoracic Spine & 7th Cervical with Feldenkrais©

Important for a healthy respiratory system – Enhance your lung health as you straighten your spine. Eva will be offering feedback to individuals during this interactive workshop.

Through the easy and gentle movements prescribed in the Feldenkrais Method©, we learn to recognize and eliminate many of the common habits that interfere with deep breathing and good spinal organization. This workshop will focus on the diaphragm and lungs, neck, 7th cervical vertebrae, and how to lengthen rounded backs or scoliosis from the inside out.

We know that the diaphragm works, day in and day out, to move our lungs. Did you know the diaphragm also has an intimate relationship with the heart and the neck? The 7the cervical – with many nerves going down the arms and the spine – is the key vertebrae in this connection. Dr. Feldenkrais once said: “We would not have neck problems if our lungs could glide freely.”

The diaphragm is a large muscle in the center of our body that is poorly understood and neglected. When it does not move well, the diaphragm not only hampers oxygen intake but also pulls on our chest and neck.

Through mindful movement we will help the 7th cervical vertebrae to communicate with the diaphragm and lungs, freeing up the neck!

You’ll take 2 lessons with a water break in between. We plan to record the lesson and make it available to workshop attendees for a small fee.

Anti-Scoliosis and Healthy Lung Weekend Day 2:

Spacious Chest, Heart & Spine with Feldenkrais / Wave Continuum- LIVE ONLINE, Interactive

October 25 @ 11:30 am - 3:00 pm One session: $59  Two sessions: $79   Golden Circle Discount: 20%

The chest houses our vital organs, so it needs freedom and mobility for the health of our diaphragm, lungs and heart. In this workshop, your diaphragm and the musculature between the ribs will learn to work together: your ribcage frees up, your spine elongates and your lungs glide. Good breathing improves everything, as our oxygen is our primary source of energy, our lifeline – even before water and food.

Get to know your biggest muscle, the diaphragm – your ‘motor’ in the center of your body – so well that you can move it with ease. This action also moves the heart, which is sitting right on top of the diaphragm and between the lungs. With extra movement and space, the heart can do its work properly. Surprisingly, moving the diaphragm and the ribcage well can also undo neck tension and immobility, as well as tightness between the shoulder blades!

To this Feldenkrais©/SmartMoves workshop Eva adds another modality, WaveContinuum, to recondition the shoulder girdle and arms, as well as enhancing chest-heart-lung mobility and health. WaveContinuum is a powerful somatic method that uses specific sound and breath techniques with a mindful wave motion to open and move tissues and fluids.

The Feldenkrais Method© and WaveContinuum form a smart union to dive deep into a conscious body journey that leaves you more elongated, mobile and oxygenated.

Effective, flexible breathing provides hundreds of benefits, including mental health benefits!

You’ll take a water break in between sections. We plan to record the lesson and make it available to workshop attendees for a small fee.

Sunday Sept, Sept, 26 11:45-2:30 pm (HST)   $38 both workshops $59

3-D functional pelvis- the pelvis has 2 sides consistent of many bones. There is a beautiful and complex relationship between the hip joints, sacrum, pubic bone(s) and the femur- between the psoas, stomach and back muscles as well as the glutes. The jaw and mouth have a connection with the pelvis. You will find out how softening the jaw relaxes the pelvis and what you sacrum has to do with your TMJ.

Healthy Eyes, Atlas (Neck) and pelvic floor

Sunday Oct, 03   11:45-2:30 pm (HST) $38 both workshops $59

The eyes that are set very close to our brain and have a direct and observable connection to the brain and Vagus Nerve also guide our spine, especially the Atlas. Deep work with our eyes is as transformable as deep work with our pelvic floor, that energetically and functionally is the key to a relaxed neck and free head.

2Finding balance!

a WaveContinuum Workshop/celebration for Equinox –

International session (German and English )

Deep Breath, spiral movement and healing sounds

Saturday 25  7:30-10:30am (HST) 3hrs

This is a different kind of Equinox celebration.

In WaveContinuum, we evoke the healing power of water through sound, breath, and spiral movement, delving into the wisdom of “our inner biology.”

Here we invite our inner waters to penetrate and saturate all the different layers of ourselves: muscles, connective tissue, organs, and cells.
In this workshop, we will look at the long Vagus Nerve and how it communicates with the face, brain, and heart.
When we were in the womb, the head was bowing to the heart early on.
With unique sounds, breath, and spiral movement, we will explore this communication axis in the WaveContinuum way.
We learn to sense movements that come from deep inside and let them flow outwardly. In our body, we carry the information from all the different stages of life itself from the single cell-protozoa to the upright walking being. Movement diversity and possibilities are expanding and are giving new opportunities in our life.
Besides richness in experience and expression, WaveContinuum can help dissolve pain and limitation.
In WaveContinuum, you learn to evoke the fluids and spark electricity in the body to heal and multiply healthy cells. Movement can reverse aging.
Through the gentle, intuitive spiral movements and sounds, you explore your beauty, strength, and creativity.
You learn to tap into the wisdom that lies inside of the body’s fluid system and create a balance between the Water, Fire, and Earth elements.
Life flows in the healing energy of spiral movement, breath, sound, love, and awareness!
With this practice, the heart opens and strengthens, the mind calms, wisdom flows, and the spirit soars.

Balance is achieved!

Aloha Kakou,

Aloha, When we actually say Aloha or Hawai’i with the correct ha pronunciation, we are not only saying something nice to someone, we actually talk from our heart and we do help our heart as well. That HA sound is the Healing sound of the heart in Mantak Chia’s Universal Tao Qigong. As we can see in Hula the hands do communicate so gracefully from the heart: the hands, healing and heart have all that HA in the word. The heart and Pericard meridian are running through the arms and hands… These days we may need a lot of healing for the heart and we need to take heart and hear the truth in our heart. This got me to think of offering the workshop below. All workshops and classes are online through zoom, which you can download easily for free.

Easy Breathing with Tension Relief for Neck & Back: Feldenkrais©/SmartMoves Workshop –

LIVE ONLINE, INTERACTIVE

June 6 @ 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm HST

$49

Learn to breathe well, and you’ll lose that pain in your neck… Wait, what?!?

Surprisingly, learning to move the diaphragm and ribcage can unlock neck tension, scoliosis and immobility in the spine! Proper breathing provides huge benefits, including mental health and disease resistance! Oxygen is our primary source of energy, our lifeline, even before water and food: breathe well and everything changes.

In this workshop you get acquainted with your biggest muscle, the diaphragm. Once you learn to ‘drive’ this ‘motor’ in the center of your body, you move everything connected to it with greater ease. The diaphragm and the musculature between the ribs learn to work together. The diaphragm pulls equally, releasing unwanted curvatures in the spine. Your ribcage frees up and softens, and your spine elongates. The breath benefit travels up through your thoracic spine into your neck!  Who knew?

While you may take this workshop by itself, you will find that Sunday’s back-rolling workshop will reinforce the mobility and ease of breathing that you gain on Saturday.

Easy Breathing with Back-Rolling to Health:  Feldenkrais©/SmartMoves Workshop – LIVE ONLINE, INTERACTIVE with Eva Geueke

June 7 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Rolling is something we did as kids when our spines and ribs were still very flexible. In this workshop you can learn to have such a flexible spine again that rolling becomes pleasurable and informative to the health of your nervous system. Finding easier movement in the spine, you free the ribcage, and with it your breathing.

The ability to roll when you fall can be life saving. To be able to feel the enjoyment of rolling on the floor and giving your connective tissue a nice massage instead of feeling stiff will make your whole being happy.

The genius of the Feldenkrais© Method is to teach movement so that the impossible is possible, the difficult becomes easy, and the easy becomes elegant. Wouldn’t it feel wonderful to bend down easily and to get onto and off of the floor without any difficulty?

This workshop will be playful and eye opening. It will open the chest, correct round backs and help your breathing. Your neck as well as your lower back may benefit. Your whole spine can achieve health and strength!

This workshop may be taken by itself, yet Saturday will be a good preparation as it will get the spine ready for rolling.

Let's add the pelvic floor to our exploration and have the pelvic be the powerhouse that gives us grounding, health, life, potency and pleasure.

9:30-11.45  (2,25 hrs) $27

7/17 A healthy functional  walk is an elegant walk

Here we explore how walking consists of an intriguing spiral pattern and a lot of circular action within it.

As humans we carry our center of gravity much higher than any animal. That gives us a lot of advantages, when we know how to use and stabilize it dynamically.

Learn to walk with ease, realign your posture and increase your overall health. Good posture comes not from muscular effort but from the optimal use of the skeleton. Good posture makes you look and feel healthy, poised and potent. The Maasai tribe in Africa is known for its elegant, long, erect posture. They can walk for many miles without tiring, keeping their ease and bounce. The beauty of their posture is its ease, without taking their shoulders back or tucking their tummies in. Their uprightness comes from a clear inner skeletal alignment where muscles are free to move without holding unnecessary tension. We will learn this practice with the Feldenkrais®/Smart Moves techniques.

Posture often is misunderstood and is artificially forced and unbalanced. People do the best they know how,  but have often a wrong notion. The resulting poor posture can adversely affect eyesight, thinking, mood, bones, joints and ligaments and the optimal functioning of organs. A healthy, functioning spine promotes whole body wellness, with accompanying benefits to our emotional wellbeing and our ability to think clearly.

This workshop is appropriate for all ages. The Feldenkrais movements will be done lying down, sitting and walking, always adapted to individual abilities. Fit people without injuries will learn to be more efficient, while others will learn to enhance their health and overcome their injuries, as Dr Feldenkrais did himself.
